Hagelstein Park birding trail, one of
the Klamath Basin birding trails,
and not far from Crater Lake National Park

Hagelstein Park birding trail, one of the Klamath Basin birding trails, is located on the eastern flank of Klamath Lake, about 10 miles from Klamath Falls, Oregon. In the winter months, when snow is on the ground, one can see egrets and great blue herons in the water that rises from underground on the eastern flank of the park. The park itself is not very big, yet it is a hub for bird watching, for fishing in Klamath Lake, for camping and picnicking. I stop there almost every time I drive into Klamath Falls to let my dogs out to run. I've seen many different birds here, and unfortunately, usually don't have my camera with me.
